Do you still have holiday vouchers lying around in your wallet or drawers? Please note that they can still be useful to you, even though they have expired. Here’s how to extend their expiry date.
To pay for part of their vacation, train trips, restaurant meals or visits to cultural places, some French people can count on their vacation vouchers, the average amount of which is 350 euros. Each year, 4 million private or public employees benefit from it, which represents a total of 10 million beneficiaries and their families, according to figures from the Ministry of the Economy. They are issued by the National Agency for Holiday Vouchers (ANCV) and in general, they are distributed in paper or digital format by the employer, the company’s social and economic committee, or in certain cases by the CAF via the VACAF system.
Regarding the financing of holiday vouchers, it is partly covered by companies or social organizations. Below a monthly salary of 3,666 euros, the employer’s contribution is up to 80% maximum. If the threshold is exceeded, it drops to 50%. The employer’s share is also greater for employees whose remuneration is the lowest, and each percentage is increased by 5% per child and 10% per child with a disability. The rest then goes to the employees. For example, an employee paid the minimum wage, with three dependent children, only pays 5% of the price of the stay, 95% of the amount being covered.
It is still necessary that the holiday vouchers are all spent. Because in paper format, in small denominations of 10, 20 or 30 euros, there are inevitably a few checks that we forget to use from one year to the next. Result: you sometimes find expired holiday vouchers in your belongings, their validity date having passed. But they are not yet lost…
In fact, it is possible to exchange your expired checks to obtain new ones. To do this, you must refer to their expiry date. Holiday vouchers are valid for two years, but they can be exchanged until March 31 of the year following their expiry date, underlines the ANCV website. This year, these are the checks which expired on December 31, 2023 which can therefore be exchanged until Sunday March 31, 2024.
If you wish to exchange them, you must make an online request on the website leguide.ancv.com, then send by registered mail the titles to be exchanged with the supporting coupon, all to the following address: ANCV / E – TSA 84380 – 77438 MARNE LA VALLEE CEDEX 2. In this case, please note that it is the postmark which serves as proof of the date of sending. Once your request has been processed, you will benefit from new holiday vouchers which will be valid, this time, until December 31, 2026.
