Andrzej Sapkowski, the author of the well-known Witcher series, was interviewed at a convention. He said that Netflix had not accepted any ideas from him for the series with Henry Canvill. However, he accepts this ignorance from Netflix calmly and with a good dose of humor.
The Polish author spoke to the gaming website Cerealkillerz at a Comic Con in Vienna.
Andrzej Sapkowski said that his suggestions for the Netflix adaptation were ignored by Netflix.

“Who is this? It’s an author, it’s no one.”
In the interview, Andrzej Sapkowski is asked if he ever gave Netflix feedback on the series. The author then replies that he “may have given them a few ideas.”
“They never listen to me,” he explains. The Witcher creator seems to take it with humor and laughs. He quickly adds: “But that’s normal.” Then, laughing, he imitates a Netflix manager who just asks, irritated: “Who is that? It’s an author, it’s no one.”
However, Sapkowski also found words of praise for the adaptation: he was impressed by the series’ huge set, which he was allowed to visit once.

As PCGames further explained, this ignoring of the author’s suggestions could be one of the reasons why the series has a significantly different mood than the books and deviates so much from the original.
For example, some of the best episodes in Game of Thrones were written by author George RR Martin himself, while the Witcher series was apparently made without any input from the author.

When asked whether Andrzej Sapkowski had ever played one of the video games, the author replied in the negative and explained:
“I don’t have time for this kind of thing and it’s not entertainment for me. No […] I’ve never played it and don’t plan on playing it.”
There’s also good news for fans of the book series. The Witcher writer says in the interview that he is currently writing a new part, which he believes could be released next winter.
