The developers of Baldur’s Gate 3 recently spoke about how they were afraid the game would be too small. But it is so big that content has even been removed. A YouTuber has now discovered an additional 15 minutes of cutscenes that shouldn’t actually be in the game.
Why does the game have cutscenes that shouldn’t be there? The development of Baldur’s Gate 3 took place over many years, only three of which were in Early Access. During this time, all elements of the game – story, game design, art style, characters – went through various iterations.
During development, Larian boss Swen Vincke was even worried that the game might be too short. So they designed a whole series of regions that didn’t make it into the game. Accordingly, there are also countless fully synchronized and finished cutscenes that simply cannot be triggered in the final game.
One of these cutscenes lets Companion Karlach break the fourth wall: A cutscene is so rare that a YouTuber will give you 470 euros if you find it. A YouTuber has now discovered and published even more such scenes.
A smaller channel finds cool scenes
Who found the scenes? The YouTube channel SlimX posted the 15 minutes of new cutscenes on August 27, 2024. The YouTuber currently has 6,100 subscribers. The first video appeared there 17 years ago.
For about eight months, the channel has been making videos about Baldur’s Gate 3, with tips on Honor Mode, companion reactions and now the hidden scenes. To unlock these, he changed the Impossible command behind the cutscenes to True.
That’s how he got all the new scenes.
Questioned by Minthara, more dialogue with the enamored Shadowheart
What kind of cutscenes are these? The video contains a whole series of scenes that cannot be unlocked in Baldur’s Gate 3. These scenes are among them:
You can watch all these scenes in the video here:
It’s very possible that these 15 minutes of cutscenes are still not all of the ones that didn’t make it into the final game. There are probably still a few scenes hidden behind the Impossible command – or aren’t implemented at all.
According to the developers, a lot of funny things happened during the development of Baldur’s Gate 3. One of the scenes that can be played in the final game is one of the more intimate and led the developer responsible to take very special measures: So that you can get intimate with the mind flayer in Baldur’s Gate 3, a developer used Oreo cookies as a comparison
