“You have to be careful”

Kristine Stavå’s Skistad won the duel on their home ground.
Now another showdown awaits at Linn Svahn’s home ground.
Then the Swede sends a cocky grin to his Norwegian rival in the tracks.

They have been heavily barred during the World Cup season. The world’s best sprinter Lynn Svahn and Kristine Stavå’s Ski City has made progress in the sprint finals and developed a strong rivalry in the tracks.

Skistad winner

At the same time as they like to send each other sour giggles on the sidelines of the competitions. When the sprint final was decided in Norwegian Drammen on Tuesday, it was Stavås Skistad that drew the longest straw and defeated Svahn.

However, the Swede got plasters on her wounds by securing the overall victory in the sprint cup this season. After the race, the Norwegian sent a clear pass to sprint rival Svahn.
– At home, I feel that I have to beat the Swedes. It was nice that Linn didn’t win on my home ground, says Skistad to the Norwegian TV channel TV2.

Svahn’s glint

Linn Svahn was of course disappointed after the race, but is also looking forward to Friday’s new sprint duel, which will be decided on Swedish soil and in front of her home crowd in Falun.
– Well, I was number two there, so I have to train to challenge a little better next time, says the Swede in a television interview with Aftonbladet.
– It will be fun to drive in front of the home crowd. I have good memories from Falun and then we’ll see what we can do, it’s a good starting point there too. It’s becoming clear that a home win is big and it’s been a while since I managed it, so I’ll go all out for it.

Sprint Cup winner Svahn also takes the opportunity to send a cheeky grin to his Norwegian rival before the sprint in Falun. After being told himself how “the Swedes were slow” in Drammen according to Stavås Skistad.
– Yes, I think I lead that duel so far this year. It will be decisive here on Friday, says Linn to the evening newspaper.

Kristine Stavå’s Skistad has so far won four sprint races this World Cup season, while Linn Svahn can boast five sprint victories as well as another distance victory and two relay wins. Nor does the Swede have much to spare for the Norwegian’s mocking victory gesture when she slowed down at the finish line and slowly passed over.
– Nah, but if you finish first, you can do what you want. It’s important to be careful, isn’t every riot that she gets to do like that, says Linn in the interview.
