Terminator Zero on Netflix: This is what the sci-fi anime is about
The anime series Terminator Zero is set in Tokyo in 1997, shortly before the all-destroying Day of reckoning. Skynet and the machines are about to declare war on humans. Malcolm Lee is a scientist who develops a competing AI system and is protected by a cyber fighter who has come to our present from the future. Other killer machines are out to get him and his children. A return to the original “serial killer vibes” of the original film with Arnold Schwarzenegger was promised beforehand.
The showrunner for the whole thing is Mattson Tomlin, who is working with the anime studio Production IG as well as Skydance Television and director Masashi Kudo. In the best case scenario, the struggling sci-fi franchise will find its way back to its old or new strength in a new guise.
When is Terminator Zero coming to Netflix?
The initially eight-part animation series is scheduled for 29 August 2024 programmed on Netflix. It is not yet clear whether there will be a second season.
