You have chosen the best afternoon anime on RTL2 and there is a clear winner

In a survey on MeinMMO, we wanted to know which anime you liked best from the former RTL2 television program. Almost one in three of you had a clear winner.

The anime program on RTL2 was the first port of call after school for an entire generation. Various anime series were shown on the TV channel at lunchtime. MeinMMO wanted to know which of the animes you liked to watch the most.

These are the results: 1,314 people took part in the survey. You were able to vote for the anime series you liked watching the most. Since there was so much to choose from, we gave you three votes.

Here we list which anime series made it to places 4-10:

  • Place 10: Naruto (4%, 85 votes)
  • 9th place: Pokémon (5%, 101 votes)
  • 8th place: Inu Yasha (5%, 103 votes)
  • 7th place: Ranma ½ (5%, 109 votes)
  • Rank 6: Sailor Moon (5%, 110 votes)
  • 5th place: Yu-Gi-Oh! (5%, 117 votes)
  • 4th place: Digimon (8%, 175 votes)
  • Digimon just missed out on making it into the top 3 of the best anime series. Although Pokémon is the bigger franchise, the series managed to beat Pokémon by a few votes. On the other hand, Jeanne, the Kamikaze Thief, just missed making it into the top 10. There are also three animes that didn’t receive a single vote: Calimero, Hamtaro and Pretty Cure.

Even today, Digimon movies are still released regularly. Watch the trailer for Digimon Adventure 02 – The Beginning here:

In addition, you told us about preferences from other channels and other anime that were not included in the pre-selection:

  • User Zischrot thinks that we should have included the very best anime series of the late 80s in the shortlist. For him, Saber Rider and the Starsherriffs are “the absolute ultimate”.
  • After school, Blackstone30 not only liked to watch Sailor Moon and Detective Conan, but also Die Kickers and Mila Superstar. He also liked to watch Captain Planet, Biker Mice from Mars and Samurai Pizza Cats on TV, even if not all of them were on RTL2.
  • Unfortunately, there was no anime for N0ma that he saw on RTL2. His last ones were Bezerk, Hell’s Paradise and Claymore. Perhaps you have a tip for him about which RTL2 animes might be something for him?
  • Sutil not only watched RTL2, but also cartoon series such as Arielle, The Gummi Bears, Chip & Dale and Aladdin.
  • We will introduce you to the first three places in more detail. One anime was able to prevail over the others by a clear margin – although, unlike the other two series, it does not have 1,000 episodes.

    3rd place: Detective Conan

  • Result: 9% with 193 votes
  • The Detective Conan anime started in 1996. It’s hard to believe, but the series is still running. There are now over 1,129 episodes in which Conan Edogawa solves different cases. He has the special feature that he is actually a high school student named Shinichi Kudo, who is trapped in the body of a child due to the side effects of a poison.

    2nd place: One Piece

  • Result: 11% with 247 votes
  • Your favorite pirate gang made it to number 2. The anime series set sail in 1999. Since then, over 1,112 episodes have been produced in which Luffy and the Straw Hat Gang experience the wildest adventures. According to mangaka Eiichiro Oda, an end is in sight – although he has already postponed his deadline for the end of the story several times.

    1st place: Dragon Ball

  • Result: 32% with 713 votes
  • Dragon Ball confidently takes the throne of your favorite RTL2 anime. Almost one in three of you liked to watch the Saiyan in the afternoon program. The original series from 1986 has since been followed by Dragon Ball Z (1989), Dragon Ball GT (1996) and Dragon Ball Super (2015).

Even with all the spin-offs, the anime only has 639 episodes, making it only half as long as the other two animes in the top 3. If you still want to skip some of the episodes, we could recommend our filler list: Dragon Ball: All episodes and fillers in the list – you can skip these episodes
