You get jail time after driving in the municipality of Berg – driving with 2.41 alcohol in the blood

In the verdict, it can be read that the man, who is a native of Västernorrland county, drove off the road and was picked up by an ambulance.

The man himself has denied the crime and claimed that he engaged in so-called “binge drinking”, that is, that he got drunk after the journey. He has claimed that he had a so-called quart, i.e. a smaller liquor bottle, with him in the car.

Witness saw the journey

However, a witness has seen the man driving wobbly in the middle of the road before ending up in the ditch at an exit. The witness approached the driver to check on him, and according to the witness’ information, the man should not have drunk anything before the ambulance arrived. Nor should the witness have seen any quarts of alcohol.

Based on these witness statements, the court believes that the driver could not possibly have gotten drunk after driving into the ditch. He is therefore sentenced to two months in prison for aggravated drunken driving.

According to CAN, the Central Association for Alcohol and Narcotics Information, most people see double at a blood alcohol level above 2.0 per thousand. At 3.0, most people are on the verge of unconsciousness.

The limit for severe drunken driving is 1.0 per thousand of alcohol in the blood.
