You don’t want to perpetually pay a subscription to use Office software? That’s good, Microsoft is preparing a new version of its office suite to be installed on PC and Mac for next year!
Like most publishers today, large and small, Microsoft is banking on subscriptions to ensure more constant revenue. Its Microsoft 365 office suite (formerly Office 365) has been part of this strategy for many years by offering year-round subscriptions for both businesses and individuals, in order to be able to use Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook while benefiting from permanent updates and improvements. Except that many users are quite happy with a version of Office, paid for once and for all, to be installed locally on their computer and which will last them several years. Even if it means doing without the latest software developments. And, while we thought that Office 2021, released a little over two years ago, would be the last version of the Office suite of this type, it seems that Microsoft has revised its strategy. An Office 2024 LTSC (Long Term Service Channel or perpetual license) version is indeed in the company’s pipeline. A preview version is already in circulation as evidenced by X (formerly Twitter) Techosarusrex, a member of the Windows Insider program.

Office 2024 LTSC is in fact available in preview through the DevMain channel dedicated especially to Microsoft developers. You can get it but method described by XDA-Developers is not the most accessible.
We currently do not know anything about the new features that will accompany this 2024 version of Office. And, you will obviously have to be patient to officially benefit from it since its official release is planned for the third or fourth quarter of 2024.
