“You can of course watch Youtube videos with it in Jäähyaitio”

Finland served Latvia with a good old washing machine

Finland’s number one center Aatu Räty does not remove notifications from his smart watch during the game.

The number one center of the Finnish under-20 national ice hockey team Aatu Rädyn the left hand drew attention in the World Cup against the Czech Republic.

Räty had a smart watch in his hand. Sometimes hockey players might wear necklaces, for example, but wearing a watch on their wrist is very rare.

– There have been a few messages about this now, so it must have been shown on TV. I’m used to just playing with a sports watch. Yes, it measures heart rate and calories, but it’s more of a routine when you’re always involved in the exercises. I hope it’s allowed, I don’t want to break the rules, Räty carves for Urheilu.

However, do you turn off notifications from the watch during the game?

– Actually, I don’t take it. Notifications of live results come mainly from your own game. In Jäähyaitio, you can of course watch YouTube videos with it, Räty throws.

One of the talking points of the games has been the audience, or rather the lack of it. At its best, Rogers Place, which holds 18,500, has had just 2,779 in Canadian games.

There have been only a few hundred of them in Finnish matches. However, according to Rädy, this has not had a major impact.

– When there are black benches, (no color) comes out blatantly. The music is also loud and there were so many games in the league without spectators for a couple of seasons that it doesn’t make that much of a difference, says Räty.

Räty scored his second goal of the tournament against the Czech Republic in the closing set Roni Hirvonen for the ingenious preliminary work. However, the hit was not the winning goal, as the Czech Republic equalized and took the game all the way to the winning goal contest.

In the winning goal competition, Finland beat the Czech Republic with 4–3 goals, when Roby Järventie and Kasper Simontaival bend the puck into the net.

19-year-old Räty is one of Finland’s star players. He started last season in Kärpi, but moved to Jukurei already at the beginning of the season. A total of 47 games and 41 points were accumulated in the SM league.
