Cosmic Flux in World of Warcraft is annoying – Blizzard sees that too. Increased the drop rate by 100% from many sources.
A big criticism of WoW: Shadowlands is the amount of different currencies with nested uses – if you weren’t there from the start or have experienced veterans in your circle of friends, you can hardly see through all the currencies.
Cosmic Flux in particular is important as it ties into many endgame abilities. Blizzard has now drastically simplified farming it.
What do you need cosmic flux for? Cosmic Flux currently serves a variety of functions in World of Warcraft.
On the one hand, the Flux is needed to craft Legendary items, and on the other hand, it is the “fuel” necessary to fire the Creation Catalyst, which converts high-value gear into tier set pieces. Therefore, basically all characters need Cosmic Flux, since items are converted into animal set parts from time to time.
Also new in Season 4 is the ability to buy all the media for the Soulbinds directly at level 278 – but you need to have a whopping 10,000 Flux to do so.

How do you get cosmic flux? Cosmic flux comes from many different sources. The largest amounts can be found in Torghast or from Mythic+ dungeons, but smaller amounts can also be found in PvP, in crates from Zereth Mortis or daily missions there.
What has changed now? With a hotfix, Blizzard has increased the amounts of cosmic flux from many sources by a whopping 100% – i.e. doubled. This affects the following game content:
This means a Mythic+15 instance now gives around 200 flux instead of around 100 flux previously.
What are the consequences? The result of this change should be that it will be much easier to earn Cosmic Flux “on the side” while playing content that is already relevant. After all, Season 4 is all about the raids and dungeons that lure you with new, upgraded gear.
Many players simply don’t want to hang around on Zereth Mortis or even in Torghast forever just to be more efficient in other areas.
Also keep in mind that a few weeks ago Blizzard added an option to move cosmic flux from one character to another. Some of the flux is lost in the process, but most players will likely have accumulated very large amounts of flux on their main character.
What do you think of the change? Good and useful? Or is it still too much effort to collect the flux?
