In addition to instant messaging tools like WhatsApp, Messenger, Signal and other Telegram, SMS remain a reliable and fast tool to communicate in writing with his relatives or colleagues. Above all, they can be exchanged even when there is no internet connection available. For this, they use the same network as that used to make mobile calls.

However, just a small modification in the Smartphone settings so that the mechanics go. Indeed, before reaching your correspondent, the text passes through the messaging center of your mobile operator. It is he who then transports the message to his recipient. To reach this center, your mobile is based on your operator’s SIM card. It is thanks to it that the smartphone automatically applies all the settings necessary to take advantage of all the mobile services to which your package gives you the right (calls, SMS, MMS, voicemail, internet access, etc.). Normally, you don’t have to worry about anything … except when these settings become wrong. Here’s how to benefit from sending and receiving SMS in the event of a glitch.

Each operator has their own SMS messaging center and therefore a specific number. It is the latter that your mobile will reach as soon as you send an SMS.

However, if you can’t get SMS anymore, you need to check that the number composed by your mobile is good, and modify it otherwise.

How to modify the SMS messaging center number on Android?

Several methods are available to check and modify the SMS messaging center number on Android. Depending on the brands, smartphone models and on -board Android version, menus names and options can also vary.

With the messages app

  • On some Android mobiles, it is through the Google messages app that you can check the number of the SMS email center used. Launch the messages delivered with your mobile. If it is not installed, download it on your device and launch it.

  • If messages are not your default SMS app, accept, the time of manipulation, to designate it as such. You can then use your favorite SMS app again.
  • Press The three vertical points at the top right of the screen and choose Parameters. On the page that appears, choose More parameters.

On Apple mobiles, no setting is available to access the SMS center number used by the device. Two methods are recommended to resolve the SMS shipping problem. The first is to reset the iphone network settings. The second must allow the modification of the SMS center number. However, although it is recommended by operators’ assistance services, it did not work during our various tests, indicating “an unknown error” with each attempt.

Reset network settings

  • By handing over the iphone network settings to zero, the device will recharge the SIM card settings as if you have just installed it. None of the data from the iPhone is affected by the operation. You will not lose anything. You will simply have to enter the passwords of the different Wi-Fi networks to which you usually log on. Access the settings and press the general menu. Scroll the page that is displayed up to the bottom and choose to reset.
