How many glasses of wine do you drink a week? How many beers will there be? That question can be important if you plan to drive a car.
The Swedish Transport Agency is currently working to test how to revoke a driver’s license in people with suspected alcohol abuse.
The reactions have not been waiting, and now the authority feels that clarification is in place.
So many glasses of beer or wine a week required to get rid of the driver’s license
Through so-called Peth-samples, which are taken by healthcare professionals and not by police, you can see how much alcohol consumed in recent weeks. Such a test can also be the basis for a retracted driver’s license.
In one Press release Explains the transport authority what quantities apply:
“To achieve the limit value 0.3 in a PETH test, a quantity of about 28-42 standard glass wine or about 21-28 cans of strong beer per week.”
However, the fact that Peth tests can be the basis for the withdrawn driver’s license is nothing new, the Swedish Transport Agency points out. There has not been existed and there is also no requirement for healthcare professionals to take these samples. In other words, doctors may assess whether a test should be taken.
This applies: the Swedish Transport Agency clarifies
The Swedish Transport Agency is now working to change the rules relating to medical requirements for alcohol and drugs. However, there are no plans to lower the limits for the amount of alcohol allowed in traffic.
Instead, a proposal has been made that people with the diagnosis of harmful use or who have an over -consumption of alcohol that are not temporary should be considered medically unsuitable for a driver’s license.
In addition, it is required that the person meets at least one of three special medical criteria to be assessed as medically inappropriate.
