“You are embarrassing the other game manufacturers” – Baldur’s Gate 3 impresses with a special reward for players

On the occasion of the upcoming holidays, Baldur’s Gate 3 surprises players with an Advent calendar through which special rewards can be unlocked.

What kind of reward is this? As Larian Studios announced on December 13, 2023 via X, formerly Twitter, the players had been good and should therefore receive a few special treats. BG3 player and good? Are we talking about the same players who made it a competition to see who could lay the bear first?

Be that as it may, the reward is a kind of Advent calendar: For the next 12 days, players are supposed to solve a small puzzle every day in order to enjoy a “festive story with a Larian twist” and win rewards at the same time.

Middle finger to the AAA industry: Baldur’s Gate 3 was no coincidence

Christmas the way Baldur’s Gate 3 is

How does the Advent calendar work? The Advent calendar consists of 12 doors, each with a small mini-game hidden behind it. Whoever solves it will receive the next part of a Christmas story in the style of Baldur’s Gate 3: “How Gremishka Stole Christmas.”

The first mini-game is a simple memory game in which you have to find 3 pairs of cards. Click here to go directly to the Advent calendar. If you don’t want to solve the puzzle yourself, you can find the first part of the story in German here:

How the Gremishka stole Christmas

In the bars and halls where gossip is most widespread,
Is whispered by a malevolent creature,
Which appears once a year on the festival of the winter solstice,
To take away the kneecaps, noses and fingers of those celebrating.

“She detests the joy of Christmas, the joy and the cheer,”
That’s what your grandma says, her eyes wide with fear.
“Never go to their dwelling in the caves across the river,
Otherwise Gremishka will get you and make you her dinner.”

How is that received? On X, players are more than a little pleasantly surprised. For example, one user writes: “You are just embarrassing the other game manufacturers with how much you spoil us.” (via X)

Others agree: Larian are simply the best, we wish them only the best and lots of love, you read in the comments. Other players are less satisfied: They would rather have news about Patch 5 for Mac or crossplay. Nevertheless, the overall mood is positive.

Now it remains to be seen what rewards are hidden behind the next doors.

It seems like Larian can hardly do anything wrong at the moment. Baldur’s Gate 3 just won an award at the Game Awards. Game director Swen Vincke accepted the award in the best possible way and thrilled the fans:

The internet loves the Baldur’s Gate 3 boss because he accepts gaming’s top award in a unique way
