Yellowstone star Kelly Reilly explains why Kevin Costners exit fits

From November, the hit series Yellowstone will end with the last episodes of the 5th season. For the Conclusion of the main serieswhich may still be renewed for further episodes, Kevin Costner will not return in his signature role as John Dutton. The background is a lengthy dispute between the star and series creator Taylor Sheridan.

Now Costner’s co-star and Beth Dutton actress Kelly Reilly spoke about his absence – which shouldn’t be tragic for the Yellowstone finale.

Kevin Costner shouldn’t be a big part of the Yellowstone finale either way

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Reilly talks about how Costner’s character wasn’t supposed to have much screen time in the series’ final episodes anyway:

The absence was part of the end. This is not something we had to change, it was already established in history. It was always going to happen, it just happened a little differently.

It sounds like the final episodes of Yellowstone Season 5 will focus a lot more on John Dutton’s circle and closest family members. Apparently Costner himself would hardly have appeared in the final episodes.

When does the Yellowstone final start in Germany?

The German TV channel AXN Black will broadcast the last episodes from November 12, 2024 at 8:15 p.m air almost simultaneously with the US premiere. A new episode comes every week on Tuesday. It is not yet known when the Yellowstone finale will appear on Paramount+ or Netflix.
