After a lot of drama behind the scenes, it is clear: Yellowstone will soon continue without lead actor Kevin Costner and will end with the last episodes of season 5 next winter. However, it has been known for some time that the Western saga in the form of a spin-off series which is then passed on.
The western sequel was previously announced under the title 2024 and is set to start after the finale of the original series. Now TVLine is revealing exciting details about the new Yellowstone series. It is now called The Madison and is set to first stars already signed But Dutton fans shouldn’t get too excited too soon.

Previous reports that Matthew McConaughey could play a leading role in the Yellowstone sequel can be put aside. The True Detective star is no longer part of the series. However, there are now three other exciting leading actors in the final negotiations.

According to the latest report, Michelle Pfeiffer (Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quatumania), Kurt Russell (Monarch: Legacy of Monsters) and Suits star Patrick J. Adams are set to play the main roles in the upcoming Yellowstone series. In addition, actress Beau Garrett, known from the Netflix series Always Be There for You, is also said to be part of the cast.
But what about the Duttons? Most recently, the reliable industry newsletter Puck reported in June that Yellowstone characters Rip Wheeler, Beth Dutton and Kayce Dutton will also be in the new series. However, we should assume that they will only return in supporting roles. The Madison revolves around a new familyas the first plot details reveal.
The Madison will follow matriarch Stacy Clyburn (presumably Michelle Pfeiffer) and her family. After both her brother and brother-in-law die in a tragic plane crash, the Clyburns travel from New York to Montana.
Filming for The Madison is scheduled to begin in August 2024 in Montana, New York and TexasThe production overlaps with the filming of the final Yellowstone episodes, for which the cameras have been rolling since May. Due to the Montana setting, there may of course be a reunion with well-known Yellowstone characters. However, there is currently no new information on this.
When do the Yellowstone finale and The Madison start?
After a much too long break, the fifth season of Yellowstone officially returns on 10 November 2024 in the USA on Paramount Network. Part 2 is expected to have six episodes, meaning the series finale will be shown in mid-December. A start date for the German broadcast is not yet known.
