The Yellow Coins Gala is a concert event organized by the Fondation des Hôpitaux which takes place on January 25, 2023 at the Zénith de Paris and which will be broadcast on France TV on January 28. All proceeds from the sale will be donated to the Yellow Pieces. Among the stars of this exclusive show, there will be the Blackpink, Pharrell Williams, Mika, Gautier Capuçon and Vianney.

Who is behind the Yellow Pieces?

The Yellow Pieces operation was launched in 1989 by the Fondation des Hôpitaux. Bernadette Chiracwife of Jacques Chirac, was the President of the Fondation des Hôpitaux from 1994 to 2019. The President is now Brigitte Macron since 2019.

What is the Yellow Pieces operation for?

Since 1989, the operation of Yellow pieces made it possible to finance almost 9,500 projects in the hospital to improve the daily lives of hospitalized children and adolescents. Once again this year, the donations collected help hospitalized children and adolescents and support thousands of projects in public and private non-profit pediatric health establishments, such as:

  • Of the specific places for adolescents within the hospital (support for the first Maison des adolescents, in Le Havre, in 1999, then participation in the creation of the Maison de Solenn in Paris in 2004 and the distribution of these structures in other cities in France)
  • family houses intended to facilitate the presence of families in the hospital
  • Of the parent-child rooms
  • Of the service facilities (development of games rooms, sports halls, equipment for school hospitals, the creation of cooking workshops, the organization of stays and outings by minibus, etc.)
  • Maintaining the link of hospitalized children with the school
  • Funding for more than 2,800 decoration and furnishing projects

This year, the launch of the 2023 Yellow Pieces campaign takes place at Nice on January 11, 2023. Activities and entertainment are planned for children and their families during a festive and popular event. Then the Foundation will move in all of France to meet its project leaders in Hospitals, Teenagers’ Centers or Family Centers. Finally, the Pieces Jaunes operation will end on Saturday 4 February at Lille. As part of this closing day, a concert will take place on the Place du Théâtre from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the presence of 300 hospitalized children

This year, 2 million piggy banks are available. Therebyfrom January 11, 2023, it is possible to recover in 8,000 post offices a cardboard piggy bank specially designed to deposit its Yellow Coins. This piggy bank is free. It is also available in the periodical TVMagazineinserted in Le Figaro, in the Unique Héritage Média magazines (National Geographic Kids – Sorcières – Pirouette – All Understand Junior – Le Monde des ados – Journal de Mickey) and in stores Crossroads. But if you don’t have a piggy bank, it doesn’t matter, you can still bring your coins to post offices in France and in the DROMs. FYI, the cardboard piggy bank was not distributed in 2021 and 2022 due to the Covid-19 crisis. 2023 therefore marks its big comeback!

What coins to give?

The Yellow Pieces operation accepts all the pieces (copper and yellow, cents and euros). Thus, we can deposit the coins of 1 cent, 2 cents, 5 cents, 10 cents, 20 cents, 50 cents, 1 euro and 2 euros. But also all tickets including foreign currencies and francscan we read on the website of the Hospital Foundation.

Where to deposit his Yellow Coins?

From January 11 to February 4, 2023, bring back your coins (with or without a piggy bank):

► In all post offices in France and the DROMs

► In one of the 400 Coinstar and/or Eurocycleur terminals in the colors of the Yellow Pieces, located within large retail chains (supermarkets, hypermarkets) partners of the operation. The list of terminals will be available on the Yellow Pieces website.
