Yakuza fans worried about Kiryu

Yakuza fans are worried about the scene in which their beloved character, Kazuma Kiryu, made famous in the latest trailer, is seen crying in an unusual way.

Sega and RGG Studio presented Yakuza fans with a teaser trailer detailing the story and gameplay mechanics of the new game, Like A Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name. The trailer may have got fans excited for Gaiden. But at the same time, a quick scene towards the end of the trailer, where Kiryu had emotional moments, made fans quite worried.

Kiryu’s extraordinary emotional moment drew attention

Towards the end of the story trailer, Kiryu appears to be sitting where we saw him when the game was first announced. When the camera is panned towards her face, we can clearly see that she is in tears. We’ve never seen such an expression of emotion in previous Yakuza games.

Even in these extremely sad scenes, Kiryu wasn’t as emotional as he showed in the short scene in this Like A Dragon Gaiden trailer. In this scene he also says the following:

“I approached Daidoji and declared that I was going to die. I left my past, my life, and even my name.”

Yakuza fans quickly realized this shocking moment. As highlighted by us, the Yakuza subreddit has many highly rated posts sharing Kiryu’s crying state and reacting accordingly. “This is so heartbreaking man… This game is going to be fire,” said a post shared by Redditor somersaulter2.

Kiryu’s emotional moment has been talked about a lot

Other fans shared the stage, expressing how “shattered” Kiryu would be in Like A Dragon Gaiden, which makes sense given what happened to him. However, this has not been evident so far, mostly due to images showing the new rope weapon and spy outfit. It will be interesting to see how he goes from this moment of breakdown into the weird-haired tough guy we saw in Infinite Wealth.

The unusually emotional moment of Kiryu, the beloved hero of the Yakuza universe, both excites and worries the player community. The eager anticipation of the new game’s content and storyline is getting Yakuza fans even more excited for the game’s release.
