Félix “xQc” Lengyel reacts to a Twitter post about Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 in his Twitch stream and names it what he thinks “real problem” by Activision Blizzard.
xQc is among the biggest streamers on Twitch judging by viewership hours (via sullygnome). He was a former Overwatch Pro on an Overwatch League team, but was kicked out for inappropriate behavior.
In his streams, too, he is known for losing his composure and loudly expressing his frustration.
“This message goes directly to Activision-Blizzard”
What does xQc say? In a February 28, 2023 Twitch stream, the streamer responded to a Twitter post by CharlieIntel. This is about Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, an 8 year old game, is having technical issues on Steam but an update should fix it soon.
Here, xQc is already critical of how long it took until the problems were fixed. But then xQc complains about what he thinks “actual problem” from Activision-Blizzard and makes an announcement:
“This message goes straight to… Activision Blizzard, um, Treyarch Studios, whoever the hell is making this game. Listen…it’s cool that you guys are fixing the game we can’t play. The real problem is the prices! I dedicated my entire platform to this for three years! To get the prices right, okay?”
Here’s the clip on YouTube:
He’s outraged that it’s so expensive to get the full game on Steam and rants, “That’s $800 for old content!” That makes no sense and is one of the most expensive goods in the entire Steam Store. He demands a price reduction, because otherwise nobody would buy the game.
By the way, this means the “Call of Duty Franchise Collection” on Steam
xQc then goes further: “If you put the price way down, okay, then people would actually buy it for what it’s worth. I’ll play your game, people will play, all the free ads because I love playing the game. OK? Until then, you get this.”
The streamer then holds the middle finger in the camera. He then makes it clear that should the company adjust prices, they would be encouraged by giving a thumbs-up.
How is the community reacting? Most of the comments below the YouTube video agree with xQc’s criticism and confirm the streamer’s opinion. Some also suspect a sales concept behind it and others extend the criticism to the gaming industry itself.
