Xiaomi’s Black Shark S1 Pro is not a connected watch like any other: despite its low price (only 60 euros), it integrates ChatGPT, the famous conversational robot from OpenAI, to put AI on the wrist!
ChatGPT, Open AI’s artificial intelligence, will have occupied the forefront of the tech scene throughout 2023. And it’s not over yet. Accessible from any computer, smartphone or tablet, this constantly evolving AI could well get a little closer to users. In any case, this is the promise of Black Shark, one of the many brands of the Chinese Xiaomi. His idea: integrate ChatGPT into a connected watch, the Black Shark S1 Pro. The main objective is to be able to call on artificial intelligence without even needing to take out your smartphone but simply by speaking to your watch. You had to think about it. Of course, the device does not have the power and resources to carry out the operation alone. The watch must be connected via Bluetooth to the smartphone (which must therefore be nearby and connected to the Internet) to provide responses to requests.
According to the GSM Arena website, the Black Shark S1 Pro should be able to interpret voice requests and display AI responses on the small 1.43-inch screen. These should be simple requests (without further details). It is also not stated what type of subscription is required to use this feature.
Black Shark S1 Pro: a sporty and affordable connected watch
In addition to the atypical connection with Open AI artificial intelligence, the Black Shark S1 Pro has all the usual functions of a connected watch. It includes a heart rate monitor, SpO2 measurement, sleep monitoring, around a hundred sports available and IP68 waterproofing for swimming. On the other hand, we note the absence of a GPS module. The tocante sports a beautiful 1.43-inch Amoled screen offering a definition of 466 x 466 pixels for a resolution of 326 ppi and a brightness announced at 600 nits. Its appearance remains resolutely sporty and Black Shark indicates a battery life of 15 days. Above all, it is its price which is surprising. It is now possible to obtain it on AliExpress for example at the price of 58.50 euros.
We’re curious to see what ChatGPT might look like on the small screen of a smartwatch. There is no doubt that other manufacturers will rush into the breach opened by Xiaomi and its Black Shark gaming brand.
