Xiaomi 11TThe , is one of the first phones to land west without the classic ‘Mi’ branding. Slightly more expensive and fancier sibling phone Xiaomi 11T Pro released with.
While the phone has a few tweaks, including faster charging speeds and a slightly different camera setup, Xiaomi Mi 11Looks pretty similar to . Let’s take a look at the other features of the Xiaomi 11T together.
Design
The Xiaomi 11T comes in three color options: Moonlight White, Sky Blue and Meteorite Grey. Unfortunately, its design is nothing short of inspirational and special – it’s hard to separate this phone from the ever-growing market.
The 11T is a massive phone measuring 164.1 x 76.9 x 8.8mm, which makes it both larger and heavier than the Mi 11. In daily use, it is not very practical to fit in phone pockets.
The only good thing about the size of this phone is that video playback looks great on the big screen. The body itself consists of a solid aluminum frame and a polycarbonate back that houses a heavy rectangular camera module.
While the back is reflective enough to act as a hand mirror, it also brings with it lots of fingerprints if not covered by the case.
The 11T has an IP53 rating which makes the phone both dust and splash proof. You get a USB-C slot for charging and also a dual SIM slot, but no microSD card slot. There’s also a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for biometrics and that works just fine.
Screen
Xiaomi 11T features a 6.67-inch, flat, FHD+, AMOLED, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus display. The punch-hole selfie camera on this phone is located at the top center of the screen.
The phone is further boosted by a 120Hz refresh rate that delivers fluid visuals. Unfortunately, it has no VRR (variable refresh rate) and only gives you a choice of 60Hz or 120Hz. The phone also has a touch sampling rate of up to 480Hz and supports over 1 million colors.
The specs on paper are just as good in everyday use. The phone is bright even in direct sunlight and provides excellent colors and details for watching videos and playing games – this is undoubtedly one of the 11T’s highlights.
Specifications and Hardware
You can get the Xiaomi 11T in two configurations. Both come with 8GB of RAM followed by 128GB of storage or 256GB of storage.
This phone is paired with the MediaTek Dimensity 1200-Ultra sensor. While it’s a flagship chip, it’s not as powerful as the Snapdragon 888 that the 11T Pro houses. But still, it delivers nearly top-notch performance that can handle heavy games like PUBG Mobile, Asphalt 9, and Genshin Impact.
Add to that the 120Hz refresh rate and 480Hz touch sampling rate and you get an immersive gaming experience with some rare stutters. While playing heavy games for a long time, we encountered some heating, but it does not go down to an excessive level.
If you consider using the phone as a daily driver for casual multitasking and video streaming and gaming is not so important to you, then it is definitely extremely capable.
In addition to 5G, the Xiaomi 11T also offers Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6 connections. It has NFC and an IR beam for remote functions, and dual SIM slots (in some areas) to allow two lines.
Camera
Xiaomi 11T is packed with rear triple camera setup. This is led by a monstrous 108Mp lens with f/1.75 aperture, complemented by a Samsung ISOCELL HM2 sensor, also seen on the Pro version of the 11T.
The images produced by this camera are clear, vibrant, and the colors look lifelike, not overblown. There’s a drop in quality for shots taken indoors compared to those shot in bright daylight, but that’s pretty common with mid-range phones.
Night mode is automatically activated on this phone, which removes the colors, but nothing remarkable. There is a dedicated option for night photography, but this takes a while to shoot and the results it provides are hardly noticeable from what you get with the auto option.
The 8Mp ultra-wide sensor has a good field of view but there is a noticeable drop in quality compared to the main camera. This is best for travel shots or large group photos. Otherwise, stick to the main camera if possible.
A unique feature of the 11T series compared to other mid-range competitors is the inclusion of a 5Mp ‘telemacro’ lens, which can be used for both 2X telephoto images and macro photography. For a phone at this price, these two features are unusually good.
It has a 16MP camera on the front and you can record video at up to 4K at 30fps, though without optical stabilization.
Battery and Charger
The Xiaomi 11T is packed with a massive 5000mAh battery, which, as you’d expect, provides solid use. You can easily use this phone for about two days watching Twitch, using social media, and more – provided you keep the refresh rate at 60Hz. Bringing it to 120Hz refresh rate drains the battery faster, but not as much as seen with other competitors.
You get a 67W fast charger in the box. This can get the phone from zero to 87% in just 30 minutes. While these numbers aren’t as impressive as those seen on the 11T Pro (which comes with a 120W charger), it’s still at the upper end of charging speeds, especially considering the overall very good battery life.
Phone Pros and Cons
- Vivid 120Hz display
- Long battery life
- Impressive main camera lens
- boring design
- MIUI is not very impressive
- No wireless charging
Can it be bought?
The Xiaomi 11T is an excellent performing device that is more than enough for most users. It also includes a few really nice features that elevate it from a standard mid-priced smartphone – camera array and fast charging.
You can create beautiful pictures and videos on this phone really easily and there are tons of options to adjust. In addition, knowing that you can charge in such a short time really saves you from battery anxiety.
If you want the best performance, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra provides it, but if you need a phone that is reliable and offers some creative flair, the Xiaomi 11T is worth considering.
