XDefiant is postponing the release, but there is still hope for an October release

XDefiant is supposed to be Ubisoft’s big CoD competitor, but the shooter hope has postponed the release once again.

What kind of game is this?

  • XDefiant is an upcoming arena shooter from Ubisoft in which you can play as factions from various Ubisoft titles – including, for example, the freedom fighters from Far Cry 6 or the cleaners from The Division
  • In XDefiant you compete against other players in various PvP modes such as Domination and Payload.
  • In terms of play, XDefiant is characterized by intuitive weapon handling with low recoil and comparatively fast movement. You can also modify your weapons with attachments.
  • XDefiant is scheduled for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S
  • This is what we know about the shift: Ubisoft has postponed the release of XDefiant to October 9th. However, a new release date was not given (via Twitter).

A report from September 11, 2023 said that the release was planned for mid-to-late September or early to mid-October – depending on whether a few final fixes are needed. A final public test followed on September 29th.

There was also no official release date at the time.

Leakers give hope for a release in October

Why is there still hope? A few days before the postponement was announced, a leak appeared that spoke of a release on October 28, 2023. According to the leaker, a launch event is planned for that day (via Twitter).

The question now is whether October 28th was set as the release date before the postponement was publicly announced or after.

Since the release in the September 11th message was planned for early to mid-October, a release would be on October 28th. already a postponement – so there is hope that the leak is still current and XDefiant will appear in October. However, you shouldn’t rely on that.

Why was the release postponed? As Mark Rubin, executive producer at Ubisoft and the head of XDefiant, announced in a statement on Twitter, the postponement was necessary to fix some problems. These were identified during the public test on September 28th.

For example, an error was found in movement, especially in sliding/sliding. According to Rubin, players reported that the movement felt strange and suspected a nerf for the slide. However, that was not the case and so the team investigated and found an error.

The aim of the postponement is to ensure that all players have a good time playing XDefiant and to fix the problems that have arisen.
