Microsoft has announced that Xbox Cloud Gaming players will gain the ability to choose a mouse and keyboard to control streaming games.
Formerly Projectx Cloud Xbox Cloud Gaminghas offered Xbox gamers an easy way to play their favorite games via streaming, whether they’re using a PC, Xbox One, or even a smartphone or tablet. The service received some criticism, but was generally well received. However, it was thought that there were still some shortcomings.
Xbox Cloud Gaming can now be played with keyboard and mouse support
One of the most notable shortcomings of these was the lack of keyboard and mouse support. While most Xbox gamers are already accustomed to using their controllers to play games directly on Xbox or via the Xbox Cloud Gaming streaming service, this is something gamers have been waiting for. Recently, there has been a good development regarding this shortcoming.
There is an official announcement that keyboard and mouse support for gamers is at work. Xbox software engineer Morgan Brown confirmed the development, stating that developers can now implement the controls, but global support is still in the works. In the future, gamers will be able to use the mouse and keyboard to control all their Xbox Cloud Gaming games if they wish. This will work with the Xbox consoles themselves as they got keyboard and mouse support a while ago.
Unfortunately, Brown hasn’t provided any information on exactly when the functionality will launch, so it looks like we’ll have to wait a little longer. While it may seem disappointing, especially for those who are accustomed to mouse and keyboard from PC games, gamers can be delighted when support is ready.
Although this is not always the case, it provides a significant advantage in control when using a keyboard and mouse adjusted to the user’s characteristics in games. This situation often seems to create conflict when it pulls players from the PC to the console platform. Because while playing the game, it will provide an advantage to one side in online games and a disadvantage to the other. This issue needs to be addressed, as Xbox Cloud Gaming’s acquisition of keyboard and mouse controls can affect even games that normally don’t allow cross-system play.
However, this move will likely increase the appeal of Xbox Cloud Gaming. Buying the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate bundle will cost much less than buying a brand new console.
