According to Reuters, in the new subscription model called “Not A Bot” for new users in the two countries, users will pay a fee to like, reshare, or quote and bookmark the posts of other accounts on the web version of the platform.
Stating that the purpose of introducing the new subscription model is to combat bots and spam, X added that the fee will vary from country to country depending on the exchange rate.
FIRST IN TWO COUNTRIES
X said the new method will first be available for users in New Zealand and the Philippines.
Existing users will not be affected as part of this test.
NEW USERS WHO DO NOT WANT TO SUBSCRIBE WILL HAVE A “READ ONLY” ACCOUNT
However, new users who do not want to subscribe and pay an annual fee of $ 1 will only be able to view and read posts, watch videos and follow accounts. So they will have a “read only” account.
“THEY WILL NEED TO REGISTER TO SHARE POSTS AND INTERACT WITH OTHER POSTS”
In his post on the subject, X’s support account said that the “Not A Bot” program is not for profit and used the following statements:
*”Starting today, we are testing a new program (Not A Bot) in New Zealand and the Philippines. New, unverified accounts will need to sign up for a $1 annual subscription before they can post and interact with other posts. Existing users will not be affected as part of this test.
