The WSIB announced two months ago it is moving its headquarters from Toronto to Tartan Drive in east London.

“When we saw the call go out for a title sponsor for New Year’s Eve in the Park, we knew this was the right thing to do,” Jeff Lang, president and chief executive of the WSIB, said in a release.

Lang, who is a Londoner, noted the importance of free events for the community where people can celebrate and have fun.

“I can’t think of a better way to contribute to our community than helping to ensure this event continues.”

The free, family-friendly event happens on Sunday, Dec. 31, in Victoria Park. Planning is ongoing, but visitors can expect fireworks, outdoor skating, live music and five hours of entertainment to enter the new year.

“Attendes can look forward to the London Music Awards all-stars anchor and an incredibly talented lineup,” said Mario Circelli, producer of New Year’s Eve in the Park.

Other sponsors of the event include the City of London, Drewlo Holdings, LiUNA Local 1059, McCormick Canada, 97.5 Virgin Radio, Pure Country 93 and CTV London.

More details about New Year’s Eve in the Park will be revealed later this month.
