WoW will forever change when you get your loot

For Europeans, a small but subtle detail changes in World of Warcraft. The weekly reset is pushed back a few hours.

Wednesday morning at 8:00 a.m. (standard time) or 9:00 a.m. (summer time) is a pretty important date for World of Warcraft players. This is when weekly activities reset and the Great Vault drops its loot. This date was set in stone for years and is now being changed. The reset will soon take place a few hours earlier and will help you get used to it.

What is changed? The weekly reset time changes for Europeans in World of Warcraft. From November 16th, the reset will always take place at 5:00 in the morning (winter time). During daylight saving time, the reset is then at 6:00 a.m. According to Blizzard, this change is meant to be “forever” — or until something else is ever decided.

What does the reset do? The reset will affect a range of game content. This includes, for example:

  • Weekly Quests
  • Weekly Rewards (Great Vault)
  • Raid IDs
  • Weekly Caps (like Valor or Conquest Points)
  • It can be assumed that the daily reset – for example for daily quests – will then be postponed to this point in time in order to be consistent with the weekly reset.

Who does this affect? Since the reset is only delayed a few hours in the morning, this should have little impact on most players who will be at school or work at that time anyway. However, if you play at rather atypical times – namely early in the morning – you could now find that “a quick round of M+ in the morning” is no longer worthwhile on a Wednesday or that it already counts for the next weekly reset.

The typical “Wednesday morning meeting”, where all the players present get their loot from the weekly reward box, should be a little smaller in the future – because at 5:00 a.m. there should be significantly fewer warriors online.

What does that mean for competitions? This change should also be exciting for the “World First” race, for example. Because the earlier reset also shifts the time difference between American and European guilds. So far, the Americans had almost 3/4 days more time and were able to start the new content earlier. Due to the earlier reset, this lead is now shrinking a bit – namely from 16 hours to 13 hours.

This means that the start is still not at the same time, but a few hours can make the difference in particularly tight races.

Does the earlier weekly reset affect you in any way? Or does it not matter to you whether the reset takes place at 5:00 a.m. or at 8:00 a.m.?
