WoW wants to torment players with 3 new affixes, you will curse all of them

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

New affixes should regulate it in World of Warcraft. But the criticism is harsh. Doesn’t Blizzard understand the problem?

The Mythic+ system in World of Warcraft has come under criticism. While the general principle of progressively harder dungeons with progressively better rewards is firmly established, the affixes are not. These additional difficulties have become increasingly discredited in recent months. For this reason, Blizzard wants to change some things with Patch 10.1 Embers from Neltharion. The seasonal affix will be removed and 3 other affixes will be dropped completely.

But there are also 3 new affixes found in datamining now.

Which affixes are thrown out? For Season 2, some affixes are flying out of rotation. They will not appear in Season 2. This includes:

  • quaking
  • Grievous (“Terrible”)
  • Volcanic
  • This throws out a lot of affixes that got on the nerves of a certain group. Quaking was particularly annoying for melee fighters, while Dread kept healers busy and Vulcan drove casters to despair.

What affixes were found? Three new affixes have been added for Season 2. The first variant of it looks like this:

  • Afflicted: During combat, plagued spirits will occasionally appear and beg players for help. These spirits have different afflictions (curse, poisoning or disease). If the corresponding affliction is removed or the spirit is completely healed, it dissolves. Failure to do so causes the spirit to cry out in agony, reducing the haste of all players by 100% for 10 seconds.
  • Entangling (“Ensnaring”): Players are grabbed by a root and slowed by 50%. Characters have 8 seconds to move far enough away from the root to rupture it. If they are still affected by the root after 8 seconds, players will be stunned for 3 seconds.
  • Incorporeal (“Bodyless”): An additional mob appears that takes almost no damage for 20 seconds. This add casts an 8 second spell that, if successful, reduces damage and healing done to all players by 50% for 10 seconds. The incorporeal enemy is vulnerable to all forms of crowd control.
  • Note, however, that these finds are only data mining so far. A lot of things can still change here before the release of Patch 10.1.

The first criticism from the community is devastating: The WoW subreddit and wowhead’s comments didn’t fare well with the new affixes. “Entangling” in particular already seems predestined to cause spontaneous deaths when players cannot dodge an attack quickly enough because they have been slowed down by a root. “Incorporeal” could also become a time waster if the creature appears at the end of a fight and only takes real damage after 20 seconds.

What do you think of the new affixes? Do they look interesting? Or is Blizzard going the wrong way?
