Some of the biggest and most successful streamers on Twitch from the MMO area and World of Warcraft are working together as a group “OTK” (One True King). The group includes streamers like Asmongold, Mizkif, and Sodapoppin. Actually, they are spoiled for success, but a new promotion for custom gaming PCs escalated on Monday, August 8th. What was particularly noticeable was how badly the streamers dealt with the criticism of their new company.
Who are OTK? One True King is a group of twitch streamers, many related to MMORPGs like World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy XIV or Lost Ark. Some members of the group also play LoL or have played it in the past.
The group formed in Austin, Texas in 2020. They work loosely together, develop common formats and support each other. Since it was founded, some well-known streamers have joined the core, and OTK now has 12 members.

“Starforge Systems” wants to build the best PCs in the universe
What did the cool streamers do? On the evening of August 8 around 10 p.m. German time, OTK and their fellow streamer “MoistCr1TiKaL” presented their new project “Starforge Systems”, a PC building company that claims to want to build “the best PCs in the universe”. .
The plan was that they now live stream how they assemble PCs on their channel every month.
Tech-savvy viewers criticize far too high prices
How were the reactions? The reactions were mostly positive. But this is the internet, and Twitch streamers have some tech-savvy fans. And almost everyone who deals with technology is a friend of building their own PC instead of buying it ready-made. Because that’s how you save money.
And many “I build my own PC” fans are more than willing to explain their point of view to anyone else, whether they want to hear it or not.
So, in some reactions, the team immediately suggested that they review the price structure again. The company’s offerings were said to be “much too expensive”.
Users told the team that their $3,500 PC would cost about $1,000 more than buying all the parts individually.

Streamers are criticized for handling criticism
How did the situation escalate? As became known on reddit, channel moderators have banned critical users from the channel who made disparaging comments about the prices in the live stream or even posted certain emotes.
At the same time, while the streamer’s regular users were being permanently banned, Asmongold spoke about trust and community, as explained on reddit. This is perceived as bitter irony (via reddit).
The Twitch channel’s moderators tried to quell the negative sentiment while viewers gossip that tech channels would soon be digging deep into the new company’s pricing.
Overall, the offer was viewed critically by some users and was apparently not the acclaimed success that the streamers had hoped for. There were also positive reactions, but because the negative ones were so harshly suppressed, it caused a backlash.
“We have been informed that the prices are not the same as 8 months ago”
How are the streamers reacting now? After the backlash, MoistCr1t1KaL expressed himself in his own stream. He said the PC company wants to reconsider its pricing policy.
“So now we can adapt and change it and make it better. That’s what it’s all about.”
According to him, the criticism has now made it clear to the streamers that the prices are different today than they were 8 months ago. Therefore, the criticism fell on terrible ground.
The streamer saw the statement that the prices would only be changed because there was a shitstorm as unfair: criticism causes change and rethinking. She should be able to do that. Complaining about it now would be wrong, in his eyes.
The Twtich streamer emphasizes that the quick action and response to the criticism shows the difference to classic companies: OTK had already joined forces 3 hours after the backlash and decided together to react to the criticism. Traditional companies could not react so quickly.
