WoW shows roadmap for 2024 – The War Within already in the summer, secret patch 10.2.6 is coming

Blizzard has released a roadmap for World of Warcraft. 6 thick patches and an expansion are waiting for the fans.

Even though everyone is currently preparing to end the current year comfortably, the developers of World of Warcraft have once again revealed a whole truckload of information for the coming year 2024. The roadmap for 2024 is already in place and you can see that the developers have a tight schedule.

What’s coming to World of Warcraft when in 2024?

Patch 10.2.5 – Seeds of Renewal: The next content patch will come in winter 2024, i.e. between the months of January and March. Blizzard says the release date is January. The patch also contains:

  • New quests to complete the story on the Dragon Islands (Epilogue)
  • Quest series to retake Gilneas
  • Dragon riding almost anywhere in the game world
  • Dungeons with NPC companions
  • Azerothian Archives (Story Feature)
  • Dragon Race in Outland

    • Patch 10.2.6 – Pirates? What’s new is the announcement of patch 10.2.6. In the roadmap you can only see a skull and crossbones behind it. What exactly is meant by this is not yet clear. The speculation is that there is a little pirate content here. After all, Blizzard had already hinted at new stories here in patch 10.0.5. However, no details have been revealed yet.

    Season 4 as a conclusion: In spring, between March and July, the 4th and final season of Dragonflight begins. Here all raids become relevant again and the Dragonflight dungeons also return to the “Mythic+” rotation. Other features include:

    Patch 10.2.7 Dark Heart: Dragonflight’s final patch is titled “Dark Heart” – probably a reference to the heart of Azeroth, because that’s where we’ll probably travel in the next expansion. There is also this new content:

  • Timerunning Pandemonium: Still unknown, some suspect the return of “Challenge Mode” from Pandaria.
  • Harbinger Quests: A quest series that will probably slowly lead to the next expansion “The War Within”. The “Harbinger” is Xal’atath and she is slowly starting to spread her chaos across Azeroth.
  • Trolls and Draenei receive their Legacy Armor with associated quests.
  • A new holiday event is introduced.

    • Pre-patch 11.0.1 in summer: The big pre-patch for The War Within, which already brings some systems such as new world events, the war packs, dynamic flying in the old world (with many old mounts) and updates to guild systems.

    There is no exact term yet, but the entry on the timeline is at the beginning of summer – probably July or August.

    The War Within: “The War Within” will be officially released at the end of summer or beginning of fall. So that means four new areas, eight new dungeons, a new raid and of course the big new features, such as hero talents, the “Deep Ones” as endgame content for solo players and the Earthen as an allied people.

    Patch 11.0.5: Blizzard wants to push out the first small patch in 2024 to expand the world of “The War Within”. So there are new quests and more story, which will probably lead to the first major patch 11.1, even if it may not appear until 2025.

    When does The War Within beta start? Also shown on the roadmap timeline is the rough start date for the alpha and beta of The War Within. Please note that this is rough information and no fixed dates are known yet.

  • The War Within alpha is scheduled to begin between patch 10.2.6 and the start of Season 4 – late winter 2024 or very early spring.
  • The War Within beta starts much later, namely at the end of spring or beginning of summer – probably May or June.
