WoW players want free playing time because of LAGs-but that would be exactly the wrong solution

Many fans of World of Warcraft are just frustrated. It lay and gives connections. You challenge free season – but that’s rather unlikely.

If you are looking at World of Warcraft’s US realms, there has been a lot of frustration for a while. Because large LAGs and and again and again are the rule. The problems are even so bad that the guild “Onlyfangs” from WoW Hardcore has already forced the task – the project was declared.

Because of the failures, many now want to have compensation and speak of the fact that the “old Blizzard” has always given free season in the event of server failures.

Which servers are affected? The attacks are primarily about the US realms. Due to the structure, it then affects the servers of all WOW versions in an attack-both The War Within and Classic and Season of Discovery. For days, the players here have been abbreviations here about Lags and connections, which can have fatal consequences, especially on the hardcore realms-namely the permanent loss of a character.

What does the community demand? In the WoW subreddit, several contributions circulate that Blizzard would like to have compensation. In particular, a list of playing time from 2005 – i.e. the beginnings of World of Warcraft – should show how often WoW simply distributed one or two days of free compensation to everyone if the server does not run as round again:

The saying “Never Play on Patch Day” comes from this time, because at that time the game was often only limited or not playable all day.

The demand: Blizzard should now distribute free playing time again.

Why doesn’t Blizzard do that now? That should have several reasons. On the one hand, Blizzard has been much more stingy for several years when it comes to free playing time or “compensation”. On the other hand, this is also a completely different incident.

In the past, Blizzard was responsible for the long failures – the maintenance work took longer, a patch was faulty or the like when playing. Such events have become much less common.

The current incident clearly comes from the outside and Blizzard can do little about it. DDOS attacks are (comparatively) easy to carry out and are difficult to block, even tech giants like Microsoft occasionally get on their knees for several hours.

At the same time, it would also send a strange signal if Blizzard now removes the incidents with a free season. Because then there would be a “reward” for the DDOS attacks, and that could only be another incentive in the future to “force” even more free game days for all players.
