Some mounts hide a scary face. A queen from another game is watching you ride in World of Warcraft.
Even though many of our readers have been playing World of Warcraft for almost two decades, there are still little details that not everyone knows. On the game’s subreddit, a user made a rather eerie discovery, as one of his mounts has a hidden face grinning at the character. We’ll tell you what’s behind it here.
What was discovered? In the WoW subreddit, user Thraybu showed a small screenshot. It shows his elf in the cockpit of a technical mount. A face can clearly be seen behind the control stick looking at the character. Thraybu asks, “Who is the face in my sky golem?”
The community’s response comes quickly because it’s a pretty well-known face – at least among gaming veterans. The character is Sarah Kerrigan from the StarCraft franchise.
This is how the community reacts: People are having fun in the WoW subreddit, as most people apparently still know Sarah Kerrigan. After all, she was a protagonist, both in the original StarCraft and the Broodwar expansion, as well as in the StarCraft II cycle. For some, she is simply affectionate as Queen of the Zerg: “Sylvanas, but with bugs”.
Some of the comments:
Another comment that particularly breaks my heart:
“This is Kerrigan from this extremely popular multiplayer game: Heroes of the Storm” -oliferro
Is this a new Easter egg? No. The “Face in the Mount” has been around since the vanilla version of World of Warcraft. Even there, some goblins used shredders, for example in Stranglethorn Valley, to mine wood. These shredders also already had the face of the Queen of Blades built into their cockpit.
Incidentally, such allusions to other Blizzard games are very common in World of Warcraft. Not only can you meet the heroes from Hearthstone, like Elise Starseeker or Sir Finley Mrrgglton (in “Legion”, “Dragonflight” and “The War Within)”, but you can also find the tomb for a game that was never released – the StarCraft shooter with the project name “Nova” (The Burning Crusade).
However, there are also a lot of Easter eggs that are reminiscent of other games or franchises that don’t belong to Blizzard, such as Zelda or energy drinks.
