WoW lost two “kings” in one day

In the small patch 10.2.5 of World of Warcraft the balance of power is shifting. Leaders quit – and others take their place.

Patch 10.2.5 Seeds of Renewal in World of Warcraft is live. Even though it’s just a small patch with relatively few new story quests, a lot happens in them. Because several leaders are clearing the stage and making room for a new generation. We reveal what this means for the story.

Spoiler warning: The article is about the outcome of some quests from the new patch 10.2.5. If you don’t want to know what’s going on, you shouldn’t read any further.

King Genn Greymane’s reign ends

The first major change concerns the rule of Gilneas. Because a major quest series in patch 10.2.5 is the recapture of Gilneas. Horde and Alliance work together to reconquer the former kingdom of humans, some of whom have been transformed into worgen.

In the fight against the Scarlets, who have chosen Gilneas as a new fortress for their purposes, Genn Greymane also fights together with his daughter Tess, who largely leads the attack.

Tess is initially in disbelief when her father chooses her.

The conquest proceeds without major problems and the scarlet danger is eliminated. At the end there is a conversation between Genn and Tess – and Genn announces that he will now leave the kingdom to his daughter. He abdicates as king and thereby names Tess Queen of Gilneas.

However, Genn does not disappear from the scene. Now that his people have a kingdom again, he wants to devote himself to other things, such as protecting Azeroth. He can now do this with all his strength because he knows his people are in the good hands of his daughter.

Tyrande and Malfurion abdicate responsibility

Something similar happens with the night elves. Because at the inauguration of the new capital Bel’ameth, Tyrande and her foster daughter Shandris talk about how Amirdrassil will now be a holy place for the Kaldorei – just like many other places, including Hyjal, Val’sharah, Ashenvale and Hopefully one day the Darkshore and Teldrassil again.

Tyrande and Malfurion see each other again after a long time – and first want a break. For two.

But while the two are talking, another figure appears: Malfurion. The Archdruid has returned from the Shadowlands and has apparently switched places again with Ysera, who returned to Ardenweald at the end of Patch 10.2.

With a heartwarming family hug, Tyrande decides that she will retire with Malfurion for a while to enjoy some time together. However, Shandris has “everything the Kaldorei people need” and can turn to her mother and father at any time.

Probably the happiest scene in WoW in a long time.

It seems as if the responsibility of the Kaldorei is slowly shifting to Shandris. It seems unlikely that Malfurion and Tyrande will both disappear from the scene in the long term. But it is clear that Blizzard is already laying the foundations to give Shandris Federmond an important, even greater role among her people.

Over the course of a single day, players were able to witness two great leaders making way for the next generation – a first in the history of World of Warcraft.

What do you think of the development of the story? Do you think it’s good that Genn and Tyrande are handing over some of the responsibility? Or does that not suit you at all?

If you want to experience the whole story, you can now complete dungeons with NPCs – with one restriction.
