WoW is upsetting its players right now

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

New cosmetic items are coming to World of Warcraft via the Trading Post each month. However, the latest ones from March 2023 are met with quite a bit of displeasure, although the design is extremely well received. The problem: They are misrepresented on many characters.

What are these outfits?

  • The Trading Post is a new feature that allows you to earn “Currency” every month and earn cosmetic content such as transmogs and mounts.
  • March’s rewards include a fancy pirate hat and an entire Darkmoon Jester-themed set.
  • It is precisely these transmog items that are causing hundreds of players to complain.
  • Do you want to earn the outfits yourself? These are the easiest tasks to earn foreign exchange.

These are the errors: Since shortly after the release of the new rewards, there have been threads on reddit reporting problems with the Darkmoon Harlequin bells.

Apparently, the transmog set simply removes certain parts from your own model when you wear the items. It can be seen in many of the images that the character’s head is missing. These are so-called “clipping” errors.

One theme that has gained even more momentum, however, is the Dread Admiral’s bicorne. A user shows a picture of the actually chic pirate hat on his gnomin, where the pink hair is clearly visible through the fabric and the hat itself is in the forehead:

The mistakes started a discussion. The post with the hat alone garnered over 5,000 upvotes and 356 comments in one day. Most of them are simply annoyed or cynical.

Comments that you can’t blame a small indie company for something like that can often be read. The anger is particularly great because many fans expect better quality control from a studio like Blizzard.

However, some users note that such problems have existed for years. Gnomes in particular seem to be affected by the corresponding bugs and it says: “Confirmed: not even the Blizzard art team plays gnomes.”

Others report that not only gnomes are affected by these problems. Undead have also struggled with the ability of their bones to see through certain clothing items for ages.

In other threads, players are a bit more constructive and discuss how to fix such errors. They suggest, for example, setting up an “invisibility field” around hats that simply hides hair.

Blizzard has not yet issued a fix.

By the way, the next patch for WoW: Dragonflight will be released soon and will bring some new content:
