World of Warcraft talks about the big rewards for January – but one is so small that it disappears, among other things, transmog.
The trading post has been a source of joy for many World of Warcraft players since its introduction. There are fresh rewards every month. Blizzard is already revealing what will be available in January – but the feedback is negative. Many people find the final reward in particular to be a bad joke.
What is the Trading Post? Launched in February 2023, the Trading Post is a new way to earn transmog items, mounts, toys, and other cosmetic rewards.
To purchase these items you need merchant currency. WoW subscribers get part of it for free every month, and you have to earn another part through special tasks in the “travel diary” – there is something for every type of game, from PvE to PvP, to collecting tasks or more playful missions .
In addition, there is always a “completion reward” when you completely fill a month’s travel diary. As a rule, this should be the “best” item of the month – at least that was the original plan.
However, the trading post has also occasionally come under criticism because the number of items per month has been increased and merchant currencies can occasionally be purchased as part of packages with real money.
What kind of reward is this? In January there is a “golden pocket watch” for completing the travel diary. This is a transmog item for the bracers. Your character will then wear a gold watch on his left wrist – at least if you don’t wear long sleeves or thick gloves that can cover them up.
What is the criticism? Even though some people are happy about the gold watch, there is also a lot of criticism. In the various comment sections, for example in the WoW subreddit, most players are rather disappointed. Blizzard originally wanted to make it so that the most “coveted” item of each month becomes the final reward that you get for free. The fact that it is now a “little mini clock” and not the transmog set or one of the mounts upsets many people.

However, others note that the watch is a unique transmog that does not yet exist in this form and therefore its status as a “special item of the month” is justified. Role-players who often have a more “casual look” for their characters could particularly enjoy this.
