WoW Dragonflight has its own “Torghast”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Also in WoW Dragonflight there is a “Torghast” again – at least something like that. Because the mechanics are similar, but without compulsion.

If you look back at the last WoW expansion “Shadowlands”, then only a few features will be remembered positively. Torghast in particular has divided the community quite a bit. Some of the players could not do anything with the tower and its compulsory program. Another part liked the absurdly powerful combinations of anima powers and the fulfillment of the Force fantasy, looking for transmog, mounts and toys.

But most agreed that Torghast as “duty” wasn’t fun. Being forced to revisit the tower quickly made you feel “burned out”.

In Dragonflight there is now a “Torghast” again – at least in the basic features. However, there is also possible PvP and the whole thing is optional.

What is the Cobalt Convention? The Cobalt Assembly is a location and faction of blue dragons in the Azure Mountains. You can find them north of Camp Antonidas – all the ruins are part of the relevant area.

The highlight of this area: Most of the enemies here are elite and all enemies have a chance that they can drop Wild Arcana. These are small, crackling balls that you can click on.

Much like in Torghast, you will then be given a choice of “Arcana Powers” that you can use to enhance your character. These are buffs such as more mastery, more life points and critical hit chance, but also playful abilities such as unleashing an arcane explosion when you jump. But there are also “dangerous” powers with side effects: opening your card (M) can cause a powerful explosion. But if it doesn’t hit at least 4 enemies, you’ll die instantly.

All arcana generally only last 5 minutes. Most stack, however, and you almost always have a choice of refreshing the duration of any active arcana. So as long as you kill enemies in the Cobalt Convent, you will become progressively stronger and stronger.

In war mode, the whole thing even works with PvP. It can happen that a nasty grinning orc with 2 million life points and one hits just knocks you out of life. That can be annoying – but you could be this “super monster” just like that. And war mode is optional, after all.

But a second type of loot is important, namely energy for the Cobalt Convention. This is sort of the “reputation” you collect. Because depending on how much energy the convention has, the better rewards you can buy. This ranges from new decorations for your dragon to some crafting recipes and even some pretty solid blue gear.

You can even unlock some “Talents” to make the grind more enjoyable.

However: In contrast to “Torghast”, the Cobalt Convention is completely optional. There are a few nice reputation rewards, such as a pretty nice ring to get you started – but that’s not mandatory to get really good items.

Thus, the Cobalt Convention has a similar importance as all the other factions of Dragonflight. They are “nice to have”, but ultimately not really important. There are some nice things to pick up here for those looking to earn the rewards – but there are good and better alternatives everywhere if you don’t feel like it.

Almost everything in the Cobalt Convent is elite – and packs a punch. It becomes easy once you have enough Wild Arcana.

Overpowered, it also farms alone

It is also interesting that you can do most of the grind alone and only need a group as a “jump start” to collect enough wild arcana. Once you are powerful enough, you can leave the group and continue on your own.

This is especially worthwhile if your realm is less busy. Because depending on the population of the realm, the cobalt convention can be quite crowded, so you hardly get any opponents for your own group and the enemies are “grey” for you. Then it can be worthwhile to switch to your own realm.

On the other hand, if you’re playing on one of the busier realms, it’s worth group-changing to one of the quieter realms.

How long does the grind last? If you just want to “get through” the Cobalt Convention so that a reputation bar reaches the maximum, you don’t need to plan that much time for it. With a group, the whole grind takes maybe 4-8 hours, which should be significantly less than all other reputation factions in the expansion. Since most of the rewards here are purely cosmetic, you can take your time with the grind and spread it out over several weeks – or you can clench your teeth and pull it off in an extended farm round.

Have you farmed at the Cobalt Convention yet? Or have you given the place a wide berth so far?

If you want to farm something else, grab this cute flying mount.
