The next WoW Classic expansion was announced at BlizzCon 2023. As many suspected, things continue with Cataclysm.
Many had already suspected it, now it has become true. At BlizzCon 2023, the developers of World of Warcraft presented the next expansion in the “Classic” area. As before, Cataclysm continues.
What is Cataclysm? In Cataclysm, Deathwing has risen from the sea and permanently changed the World of Warcraft. He left a trail of destruction in his wake as he flew over the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor. This is accompanied by the massive emergence of the Twilight’s Hammer cult and various attacks by well-known elementals.
This destruction of many areas was accompanied by new quests and a revised story – but at the same time meant the loss of many popular quest lines and some rewards that were then no longer available.
Will the Cataclysm be exactly the same as it was back then? There will be some changes. After all, Cataclysm is considered by many to be the “turning point” in which World of Warcraft changed too much and no longer really belongs to the “Classic Era”.
However, Blizzard would like to listen more closely to the community’s feedback. In the past few months there have been many surveys that have been sent out to some players and the concerns from forums and the game’s subreddit are also being taken to heart. The changes will therefore be based on the wishes of the community.
We will reveal exact details as soon as they are known.
When does WoW Cataclysm Classic come out? There is no exact release window for the next expansion yet. However, Cataclysm Classic is scheduled to “release in the first half of 2024” – i.e. within the next 8 months.
Are you up for Cataclysm Classic with some changes? Or are you not impressed by the expansion at all?
