WoW brings the biggest change to Mythic+ in 6 years, making everything more relaxed

Beef is the best Netflix series of the year so

World of Warcraft wants to give players more time. Mythic+ becomes more relaxed and the “stress” comes much later.

While Blizzard isn’t making all the changes to the Mythic+ system that the World of Warcraft community is asking for, the developers are still trying new things. The latest version of Patch 10.1 Embers of Neltharion on the PTR therefore has some changes and changes Mythic+ quite drastically. Because in the future you will have fewer affixes and they will come much later.

What will be changed? The next patch will change the level at which affixes are added in the Mythic+ section. The whole system is fanned out more, so you only have to deal with several affixes later. In future it will be as follows:

  • The 1st affix (Tyrannical or Empowered) still spawns at launch, right at Tier 2.
  • The 2nd affix is added at level 7.
  • The 3rd affix is added at level 14.
  • From keystone level 14 and up you will have a maximum of 3 affixes active in a dungeon.

A brief comparison: Currently, affixes are added at levels 2, 4, 7 and 10, so that you already have a maximum of 4 affixes in a dungeon from level 10. That will soon be a thing of the past.

A seasonal affix is completely eliminated in Season 2 of Dragonflight.

Why is Blizzard doing this? Blizzard is pursuing several goals at the same time.

For one thing, the new split makes more sense in connection with the reward structure. Mythic Keystone dungeons drop progressively better gear up to level 20. So it makes sense to better spread the additional difficulties over the 20-level range.

The second reason is to give players more time to get used to and experience dungeons without being overwhelmed by the affixes and the added complexity that comes with them.

The latter is always a problem, especially later in the season. Because at lower levels, well-equipped heroes plow through the dungeons so quickly that you hardly get to see boss mechanics or special features as a newcomer, because the bosses often die before the ability is used. At higher levels, on the other hand, you are busy with so many affixes at the same time that you hardly realize what is actually part of the boss fight and what is an additional affix.

The learning curve should thus be much more pleasant and the entry hurdle for “Mythic+” should be lowered.

What do you think of this change to Mythic+? A good idea or just a drop in the bucket?

Incidentally, patch 10.1 will be released at the beginning of May – and is therefore extremely fast!
