WoW Addons Order – All releases at a glance

World of Warcraft (WoW) is regularly updated with new expansions. We show you the order of all addons in the game in an overview with the release years.

This is what extensions bring: The expansions bring new content to World of Warcraft and change the max level limit. If you own the base game, you just have to buy the latest add-on to be able to access its content as well as the content of the older parts.

Release overview of the addons:

  • WoW: Shadowlands (2020)
  • WoW: Dragonflight (November 29, 2022)
  • WoW: The War Within (2024 – Probably 3rd or 4th quarter)

    The Burning Crusade

    Release: January 15, 2007.

    Contents:

  • New max level 70
  • New races/peoples: Blood Elves (Horde), Draenei (Alliance)
  • New World: Outland
  • New job: Jewelcrafting
  • Additional content: flight mounts, arena (PvP), dungeon finder, guild bank

    • Wrath of the Lich King

    Release: November 13, 2008.

    Contents:

  • New max level 80
  • New races/peoples: Death Knights
  • New World: Northrend
  • New profession: Inscription
  • Additional content: Achievements, siege weapons, dungeon finder across realms

    Release: The official release date of WoW: The War Within is not yet known. Blizzard revealed that the release will take place in 2024. The community is assuming a release in the typical 3rd or 4th quarter.
