There are tremendous value stories in the history of lions. Where do you think a potential gold medal for the Beijing Olympics would go up compared to other feats?
The lions advanced to the final of the Beijing Olympics, knocking Slovakia to 2-0 in an exciting semi-final. Finland is playing in the finals for the second time in the history of the Olympics.
How high would the potential Olympic gold rise in the history of the Lions Championships? Would that be Finland’s greatest achievement in hockey? Now you can give your opinion by voting.
There are several great value stories in the history of the lions. At the World Cup, gold has come three times: first in 1995 at the Globen in Stockholm and twice since then in Bratislava. Lions were training for both 2010 World Championships Jukka Jalonen.
Finland played in the Olympic final in Turin in 2006. At that time, however, the great tournament ended in a bitter 2-3 final loss to Sweden. When NHL players have participated in the Olympics, Finland has three bronzes in addition to Turin silver.
In Calgary in 1988, Finland won Olympic silver, but the Games were played in series. So the actual final was not played. 1994 Lillehammer became bronze, but without NHL players.
One of the biggest moments of the lions is also the 2004 World Cup, where the team advanced until the final. The final loss this time came to Canada with goals 2-3.
What do you think is the most foolish thing in Lions history? Was it the first World Cup gold at the Globen in 1995 or perhaps the air-scented Bratislava Spring 2011 that ended the 16-year wait? Or some dimmer medal from tournaments where NHL players have been involved? Vote!
