“Worst quest I’ve ever played”

There’s currently a quest type in Dragon’s Dogma 2 that’s making a lot of players upset. Because these missions don’t work properly, they’re just frustrating and annoying.

What type of quest is it? Some love them, others hate them: stealth missions. In games that are explicitly designed for them, they can be a real treat. Positive examples include Dishonored, Hitman or Thief.

But if these missions work poorly, they’re no fun. These quests are often found in games that have no such system built in at all. In MMORPGs or shooters, for example. Or in single-player role-playing games. Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a recent example of this.

Some players are currently complaining about the lack of stealth system. Especially because the game incorporates corresponding quests in some places.

In the main quest you have to sneak

Why is sneaking frustrating in Dragon’s Dogma 2? Anyone who pursues the main quest will soon come across a stealth mission. If you talk to Captain Brant in Vernworth and explain that you are the real Awakened, you will receive a series of quests.

One of them is called “Disa’s Plan”. To do this, you have to sneak into the castle after midnight and steal evidence from the queen’s study. There are a few guards on the way there that you have to sneak past.

As Reddit user ThrowRA916952 notes in the subreddit, the patrolling guards barely reacted to his presence. He even wore his regular armor and didn’t disguise himself as a guard.

So while sneaking hardly deserved the name and seemed ridiculously easy, the guards’ AI still reacted. In the castle’s prison, the user opened a random door and was suddenly attacked by the guards.

He then ended up in one of the cells. All items were taken from him – but the matching cell key remained in the inventory. This made it easy to open the door and walk out of the cell. The guards didn’t respond again.

ThrowRA916952 calls the system “ridiculously bad.” In fact, he says it’s the worst quest he’s ever completed in a game. He is not alone with his experiences.

You are also in prison for the quest “Away from the wrong path”.

What do other players think? Another player named Actual-Plane8886 speaks up under the user’s post. He writes: “I was confused too. The guards didn’t respond to me for two minutes, then suddenly they attacked me brutally with their swords.”

If you do get caught, user Weird_Excuse8083 suggests the following: “Just keep running. Then return to where you needed to go and complete the quest. I did that every time I got caught and I never went to jail.”

Blackarm777, on the other hand, doesn’t understand why Capcom even decided to include stealth missions if it’s so “half-hearted”.

Sneaking in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is certainly not one of the game’s strengths. Have you already played the corresponding missions? What were your experiences with it? Write it to us in the comments. Players have found a good way to farm 200,000 gold in the game in under two hours.
