So far, SEK 1.2 billion has been paid out in the government’s crisis support to the country’s farmers. But despite that, concerns are now growing within the industry about how they will cope with the winter with continued rising feed and electricity prices.

Jenny Andersson is one of many farmers who are worried. She raises chickens on her farm south of Oskarshamn, and the crisis support from the government meant that she and her colleagues in the poultry industry managed, but she does not know how things will turn out this winter.

– It is so unpredictable. It fluctuates so quickly when the feed price rises and the electricity prices make it difficult for us. Obviously, we’re all a little worried.

From LRF, the National Federation of Farmers, they believe that the crisis support has made the industry more balanced, but at the same time they believe that the danger of a crisis is far from over.

– Everything indicates that this autumn, winter and spring are very decisive, says Lars-Erik Lundqvist, economic policy advisor at LRF.
