On the occasion of World Parkinson’s Day, which will take place on Monday, April 11, 2022, the committees of the France Parkinson association organize almost 50 events throughout France (the event map in the different regions can be found on the association’s website) from the beginning of April to the end of May. Every year, conferences, group outings and gatherings are organized to raise awareness and inform about this disease, how it works and the role of treatments. The 2022 edition at Paris will be held at the City of Science and Industry at 30 avenue Corentin Cariou (75019) on April 9 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. In the program : a conference on Parkinson’s disease by the neurologist Philippe Rémy, a demonstration of therapeutic dance for patients with the disease, or even a workshop on sports activity. The 2022 edition at Marseilles will take place on April 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The 2022 edition at Lyons will take place on May 14 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. In 2022, the France Parkinson association is also campaigning to mobilize public opinion on the disease, “a major public health issue which is not however perceived as a cause to defend for the French” (according to a study carried out by OpinionWay in 2022 and taken up by France Parkinson).

World Parkinson’s Day was inaugurated in 1997 by theEuropean Parkinsons Disease Association (EPDA), which made April 11 the world day of this disease. April 11 was the james parkinson date of birth, a British physician who discovered the condition in 1817. It was later named in his honor.
