The Czech Republic celebrated a sensational 4-3 win over Canada in the quarter-finals of the U20 World Cup in Ottawa. Canada, the host of the World Cup, was thus rudely left out of the medal games.
The Czech Republic decided the match 40 seconds before the final buzzer when Adam Jecho succeeded overwhelmingly.
The Czech Republic led the match after the opening set 3-1, but Canada caught up. Porter Martone scored a 2-3 tie in the second set and Bradley Nadeau The 3-3 equalizer barely five minutes before the end of the match.
In the semifinals, the Czech Republic will face the United States, and Finland will face Sweden. Finland secured its place in the semifinals with its 5–3 win over Slovakia.
