Zecira Musovic salvaged a WC bronze with Sweden.
Now she comes up with a clever joke at Kristallen.
A cheeky jab at the national team captain Peter Gerhardsson.
Swedish women’s soccer charmed the Swedish people this summer by going undefeated all the way to the semifinals of the soccer World Cup. Along the way, Blågult had knocked out both the USA and Japan, and expectations grew for another WC medal.
Sweden’s success
But future world champions Spain proved far too difficult and Sweden had to settle for the bronze medal match against host nation Australia. There was no talk of the matter and the women of the national team fairly won the WC bronze for the second straight world championship.

Several new blue-yellow heroes emerged and the goalkeeper Zecira Musovic got his big international breakthrough after a real feat between the posts against the USA. On Monday evening, Musovic and the national team captain were also invited Peter Gerhardsson to the TV gala Kristallen to hand out prizes, see the video below.

Musovic’s joke
Then the WC bronze heroes took over the show and elicited both big applause and lovely laughter from the spectators on site in Cirkus.
– It’s almost like you want to apologize for creating a little too much tension at times. I know that many, including Zecira’s mother, thought there was a little too much drama about the whole thing, says Gerhardsson up on stage.
– So the mother…, answers Musovic and rolls his eyes.

Then it was time for Zecira Musovic to send a clear and cheeky glare to her own national team captain, see the video below.
– For me, it was drama all the way. I got on the plane and had no idea what role I would have. I hardly knew if I was going to play, she says and turns to Gerhardsson.
– Well… (clears his throat) Then it became one of the main roles, replies the head coach.

Musovic and Gerhardsson are now widely praised in social media for their efforts during the Crystal Angel.
“You were clearly the best!”, writes one user.
“Queen Zecira,” writes another.
“You are so worthy of the warm applause and the audience that stood up when you entered,” writes a third.
