The government appoints a working group to counteract and make it more difficult for criminals to exploit the financial systems. The working group includes both the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Finance.

Priority areas are countering fraud, making it more difficult for money laundering, terrorist financing and other financial crime, as well as countering risks within the payment system.

– This is complex crime, says Minister of Financial Markets Niklas Wykman (M) at a press conference.

Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer says that economic crime has “caught up and overtaken” drug sales as the main source of income for organized crime.
