(Finance) – Based on data published byInail the reports of fatal accidents presented to the Institute in the first 11 months of 2024 were 1,00032 more than the 968 recorded in the same period of 2023 and three more than in 2019, six less in 2022, 116 less in 2021, 151 less in 2020. Comparing the number of fatal cases to Istat employees in the various periods (provisional data), we note how theincidence falls from the 4.32 deaths reported per 100,000 Istat employees in 2019 to 4.16 in 2024 (-3.7%), while it increases by 2.0% compared to 2023 (from 4.08 to 4.16).
TO level national the data collected in November of each year show for the first 11 months of 2024 compared to the same period of 2023, despite the provisional nature of the numbers, a decrease in cases that occurred in job opportunitywhich went from 745 to 731. In the January-November 2024 interval, compared to the same period in 2023, there was an increase in commuting accident reports (223 to 269). The incidence of this type of complaints on all fatal accidents went from 23% in 2023 to 26.9% in 2024.
The increase concerned management Industry and serviceswhich went from 823 to 852 fatal reports, and theAgriculture (from 113 to 116), while the State account records 32 cases in both periods. Among the sectors with the most deaths occurring at work are Construction with 147 cases (compared to 139 in 2023), Transport and warehousing with 99 cases (97 in 2023), the manufacturing sector with 94 cases (96 in 2023) , Trade with 51 (61 in 2023) and Rental and business support services with 37 (35 in 2023).
Among them regions with i larger increases noteworthy are Sicily (+15), Lazio (+12), Lombardy and Tuscany (+11 each) and Emilia-Romagna (+7), while the most evident drops are Veneto (-22), Abruzzo (-13), Piedmont (-6), Umbria (-4) and Friuli-Venezia Giulia (-3).
As of 30 November this year, there were 11 reports of multiple accidents for a total of 34 deaths, 12 of which were road deaths. In the first 11 months of 2023 there were 12 reports of multiple accidents for a total of 31 deaths, 17 of which involved a means of transport (road, rail, etc.).
In the first 11 months of 2024 the injury reports presented were 543,039, an increase of 0.1% compared to the 542,568 in the same period of 2023, of 8.1% compared to January-November 2021 and of 10.3% compared to January-November 2020, and a decrease of 16.7% on 2022 and 8.1% on 2019, the year preceding the pandemic crisis. Taking into account the data on the labor market collected monthly by Istat over the various years, with the latest update in November 2024, and comparing the number of accidents reported to that of those employed (provisional data), aaccident incidence which goes from 2,557 accident reports per 100,000 Istat employees in 2019 to 2,257 in 2024, with a drop of 11.7%. Compared to 2023, the reduction is 1.3% (from 2,286 to 2,257).
Finally, the complaints of occupational disease registered by INAIL in the first 11 months of 2024 were 81,671, 14,577 more than in the same period of 2023 (+21.7%). The increase is 46.5% compared to 2022, 60.8% compared to 2021, 99.6% compared to 2020 and 44.4% compared to 2019. The data collected in November of each year show increases in reported pathologies in Industry and services management (+21.7%, from 55,784 to 67,882 cases), Agriculture (+22.6%, from 10,687 to 13,098) and State account (+10.9%, from 623 to 691).
