(Finance) – The Minister of Labour, Marina Cauldronstated that “one strike I believe it is absolutely legitimate because it is permitted by the Constitution and the laws. But it doesn’t seem to me to be the response to an openness to dialogue and to a demonstration of management and participatory discussion that the Government has given.” The comment comes after yesterday’s announcement by the leaders of CGIL and UIL, Maurice Landini And Pierpaolo Bombers, of a strike in April. The date will be decided in the assembly of delegates for the security of the two confederations, which will take place on Friday 22nd at Leopolda in Florence.
“I think at this moment the dialogue must be the response to the situations in which we have to work together – he added at the end of the meeting with the social partners which took place at the Ministry – to identify paths that protect human life”. Among the union leaders there was also the secretary general of the CISL, Louis Bar. The minister stated that the meeting with the social partners on health and safety at work was “very profitable“. “We discussed various topics, but I saw a great desire to proceed united because together we fight all those situations that lead to the loss of human lives”, underlined Calderone.
“The interventions facts are important because they concern diversified themes, which they touch upon points neuralgic – he continued –. On the one hand, workplace inspections, significantly increasing the contingent of staff that we will hire and who will have technical inspector qualifications, therefore experts in health and safety. Then we introduced an important tool already present in the 2008 consolidated text which has not been implemented to date. We have introduced the credit licence which is connected to a broader process of qualifying companies and ensuring that they are sufficiently prepared to take on the responsibilities of conducting particularly risky activities”.
Calderone then added that “the theme of training it is central for both employers and workers. At the same time, it is important to bring the culture of safety to all environments, starting from schools, where teaching must also include health and safety in the workplace.”
