Driving the demand for work are tourism companies that plan +16 thousand in the month hiring compared to January 2024 (equal to approximately 67 thousand entries), followed by trade with +2 thousand units (with over 77 thousand entries). The difficulty in finding remains stable compared to 12 months ago and still affects at least one in two hires (49.4%).

This scenario is outlined by Excelsior Information System Bulletin, made by Unioncamere And Ministry of Labor and Social Policiesthanks to the national program for youth, women and work co-financed by the European Union, which prepares employment forecasts for January.

TO January theindustry overall it plans 161 thousand hires (-6.4% on an annual basis), 109 thousand of which in manufacturing industries and public utilities (-9.7%), while the other 52 thousand concern the construction sector (+1.4%) . The services overall plan to hire 336 thousand workers, almost stable on an annual basis.

From a dimensional point of view they are the microenterprises (up to 9 employees) to forecast a growth in hiring for January (+1.5 thousand compared to January 2024). The forecast is decreasing medium-large companies (-8 thousand between 50 and 249 employees and -4 thousand for those with 250 employees and more).

In January the mismatch between job supply and demand affects 246 thousand hirings of the 497 thousand scheduled (49.4%) mainly due to the lack of candidates (32.0%). From the Borsino of professions, analysts and specialists in application design (62.1%) and engineers (58.5%) are difficult to find on the market – in the group of intellectual and scientific professions, while among the technical professions we note technicians managing the production processes of goods and services (67%) and health technicians (66.3%).

In the group of professions qualified in commercial activities and services, it is more difficult to find beauty care operators (59.8%) and qualified professions in health and social services (55.9%). Workers specialized in the installation and maintenance of electrical/electronic equipment (75.5%) and foundry workers, welders, tinsmiths, boilermakers, metal carpentry assemblers (74.5%) are the professions with the highest difficulty in finding among the specialized workers, while for the conductors the workers assigned to machinery in the textile and clothing industry stand out (67.9%) and the workers assigned to automatic and semi-automatic machines for metalworking (65.6%).

THE fixed-term contracts they are confirmed as the most proposed form with around 215 thousand units, equal to 43.2% of the total, followed by permanent contracts (115 thousand, equal to 23.1%).

With reference to education levels18% of personnel searches are aimed at graduates (90 thousand units), 28% at diploma holders (138 thousand units) and 34% at those in possession of a professional qualification/diploma (167 thousand units). Over 11 thousand requests for ITS Academy graduates.

In January, companies plan to hire over 89 thousand workers immigrantsequal to 18% of the total. Between the sectors businesses that are mostly looking for foreign labor include operational services (28.8% of revenue is reserved for immigrants), transport and logistics services (26.3%), metallurgical industries and metal products (21.4%), services of accommodation and catering (20%) and construction (19.9%).

Furthermore, there are 148 thousand jobs (30% of January hirings) for which companies show a preference for young people under 30, with particularly high opportunities in the financial (43.1%), tourism (41.8%) and IT (40.7%) sectors.

TO level territorial it is the companies in the North-West and the South that plan a greater number of hires (159 thousand and 123 thousand respectively) followed by the regions of the North-East (115 thousand) and the Center (101 thousand). The North-East has the highest difficulty in obtaining supplies (over 54%).
