The increase in the demand for labour – it is explained – it remained sustained until early summerreturning employment to the pre-pandemic growth path. In the next months the dynamics, albeit positive, she weakened: in the November-December two-month period, net new activations remained at levels similar to those of 2019 (37,000 more jobs compared to around 33,000 three years earlier, net of seasonal effects).
Tourism and services drive growth
THE services supported the occupation in the first half of 2022, especially tourism which has regained strength since the beginning of spring, while the construction and manufacturing sectors most exposed to energy price increases are slowing down.
From the summer of 2020 and construction until the first months of 2022 they did register exceptionally high growth rates; since the second quarter of last year the expansion then weakenedmaking a modest contribution.
In manufacturing job creation continued at substantially constant rates also in the last two months of the year, despite the slowdown in the most energy intensive sectors.
More stable contracts
In 2022 the growth in permanent hiring, which in the previous year had instead represented only 40% of net activations. They were over 410,000 jobs created of stable work, against a substantially stationary nature of fixed-term loans and a drop of over 50,000 units of apprenticeship contracts. In the first phase after the pandemic (2021), in a context of high uncertainty, the recovery of employment was mainly driven by fixed-term positions, until when the recovery consolidated (end of 2021 and 2022), businesses returned to hire with permanent contracts and to transform the temporary positions activated in the previous months.
Growth above all in the Center and North
