Woodstock police sixteen loaded handgun, charging man

A Mississauga man faces a slew of weapons charges after Woodstock police seized a loaded handgun.

Police received information last Friday a suspect had a firearm, Woodstock police said Monday. Officers searched the suspect’s vehicle and found a loaded handgun.

A 41-year-old Mississauga man is charged with six counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, careless storage of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited weapon with ammunition and failing to comply with a release order.

St. Thomas resident charged with assaulting police officer

A St. Thomas resident faces charges, including assaulting a police officer, after a man sought by police was arrested Sunday.

St. Thomas police said they learned of the location of a suspect sought on charges including theft and mischief and failing to comply with both a release order and terms of probation. The suspect tried to strike and push an officer while being arrested, St. Thomas police said.

A 28-year-old St. Thomas resident is charged with assaulting a peace officer, resisting a peace officer and failing to comply with probation, police said.
