Suspended driver arrested for stunt driving

A suspended driver was arrested Saturday morning after reportedly being clocked traveling 106 kilometers per hour in a 60 kilometer-per-hour zone.

Officers immediately conducted a traffic stop and learned the 28-year-old Ingersoll driver had allegedly been driving with a suspended license, police said.

The driver now faces suspended and stunt driving charges. As part of the stunt-driving charge, the driver was slapped with a 30-day roadside license suspension and a 14-day vehicle impoundment.

Stunt driving and speeding regulations were revised last summer in Ontario. Now, drivers caught speeding in excess of 40 km/h in a speed zone of 80 km/h or less can be charged. Previously, drivers were charged when exceeding the speed limit by 50 kilometers on roads with speed limits of 80 km/h or less.
